Richard Mills: Injuring journalists injures the entire society and its democratic promise
U.S. Ambassador to Armenia Richard Mills, Jr., visited the Gregory the Illuminator Hospital in Yerevan to hear directly from journalists injured last night in Erebuni. Facebook page of the US Embassy reported.
According the post, after meeting with injured reporters from A1Plus and LifeNews, he stopped at the offices of RFE/RL Azatutyun, several of whose reporters were also injured last night. "Free speech requires a press that can report the news free from the fear of injury. Injuring journalists injures the entire society and its democratic promise," Ambassador Mills said. “We will work to make sure no one involved in last night's violence, including security officials, will participate in any training or other program supported by the U.S. government."
