National Security Service: Charges pressed against 24 persons
Armenia’s National Security Service has released a statement about 47 detainees or arrested as well as charges pressed against 24 individuals, involved in the July 17 seizure of the patrol police regiment and taking hostages.
The statement reads that in the scope of the criminal case initiated under the Article 219 of RA Criminal Code (Occupation of buildings, facilities, means of transportation and communication, other communication lines) and Article 235 of the RA Criminal Code (Illegal procurement, transportation or carrying of weapons, ammunition, explosives or explosive devices) 47 persons have been detained or arrested. Charges have been pressed against 24 individuals under the Article 218 (Taking hostages) as well as Articles 219 and 235 of the RA Criminal Code.
The statement next states that the Investigative department of the RA National Security Service has sent a written motion to the Prosecutor General’s Office to transfer the mentioned criminal case to another prosecuting body under Investigative subordination as envisaged by the RA Criminal Procedure Code of Armenia.
