Turkey loses USD 840 million, as fewer Russian tourists visit the country
As number of Russian tourists decreased in Turkey in the first half of the year, the country has suffered a loss of USD 840 million, Russian Association of Tour Operators informs.
Compared with 2015 (1.5 million), during the first half of this year, 184 thousand Russian tourists visited Turkey.
Overall, in the first half of 2016, Turkey had a benefit of USD 9 billion.
This contributed to the 0.5% decline in the Turkish GDP. In June, 2.44 million foreigners visited Turkey, which is 41% less than last year. This is considered the greatest decline in the past 22 years.
