Head of RA SIS: Voluminous investigative actions are being carried out
On August 3, 2016, the head of RA Special Investigation Service, general-lieutenant of justice Vahram Shahinyan had a meeting with the associate director of “Human rights watch”, the head of Europe and Central Asia division Jane Buchanan and the with the director of Western Caucasus division of the same organization George Gogia, SIS press service informs.
According to the source, on the request of the representatives of “Human Rights Watch” organization, the head of the Special Investigation Service represented the role and peculiarities of RA Special Investigation Service among the system of other law enforcement bodies.
During the conversation, the representatives of the international organization gave a set of questions to the head of RA Special Investigation Service Vahram Shahinyan concerning the incidents within the territory of patrol guard service regiment, as well as the assaults, the prevention of journalists and attorneys’ actions in different areas during recent days.
V. Shahinyan mentioned that voluminous investigative actions are being carried out on the initiated and investigated criminal cases to find out all the circumstances mentioned in the reports of citizens and published in the means of mass media on the incidents of the official powers exceeded by the police officers, the legal professional actions prevented and on the prevention of the duties of attorneys represented to supply with legal support to the ones taken to the divisions of the police.
V. Shahinyan reassured that on the initiated criminal cases RA Special Investigation Service carries out impartial, complete and multisided investigation to find out guilty ones and to solve the matter of criminal responsibility.
During the meeting the associate director of “Human Rights Watch” international organization, head of Europe and Central Asia division Jane Buchanan and the director of Western Caucasus division of the same organization George Gogia strictly giving importance to the meeting of such format underlined their bilateral wish further to actively cooperate within the scope of questions having mutual interest.
