Paper Cranes at Peace Memorial in Yerevan dedicated to Hiroshima victims
“Hikari” Armenian-Japanese scientific-cultural centre organized a ceremony dedicated to the memory of the victims of Hiroshima and Nagasaki nuclear attack at the Peace Memorial in Children’s Park in Yerevan.
UN Armenian Office Resident Coordinator, Bradley Busetto, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Armenia, Eiji Taguchi, Japanese tourists attended the ceremony.
A moment of silence was declared then children's choir of “Hikari” Centre sang in the memory of Hiroshima victims. They also recited haikus for maintaining peace throughout the world. Haikus attached to paper cranes were places at the Peace memorial.
To remind, since 2005, “Hikari” Armenian-Japanese scientific-cultural centre launched the centre’s first big campaign titled “Peace Lanterns”, which became international in 2008. It’s been already the 12th year that Armenian children send their lanterns to Japan on August 6, Hiroshima Peace Memorial Ceremony dedicated to the victims of the world’s first nuclear attack.
