Primary topic at Sargsyan-Putin meeting will be domestic political problems in Armenia, political scientist says
During today’s meeting between Serzh Sargsyan and Vladimir Putin, the sides will discuss issues related to current political situation in Armenia, political scientist Karine Gevorgyan expressed her view during a press conference.
“Intense political processes took place during the past few weeks, and demonstrations continue to be held. Within the framework of the meeting they will also speak about the economic situation,” she added.
According to the political scientist, the sides will also discuss the regional situation, as the resumption of military operation on the Line of Contact between NKR and Azerbaijan isn’t in the Armenian and Russian interests. “Perhaps Azerbaijan would like such developments, but neither Armenia nor Russia would. At a time like this when Russia is subjected to sanctions, it wouldn’t want another headache after the one connected with Ukraine.”
The political scientist also noted that during Karabakh negotiations, the sides should consider that the situation has greatly changed since the ‘90s.
