24th anniversary of the Revival Day of Hadrut town and the establishment of N area of the NKR Defense Army were marked today in Artsakh. As Liana Poghosyan, editor of Dizak newspaper of Hadrut region told Artsakhpress agency, festive events started yesterday with national dances performed at Liberty square of the town,

Today, festive events continued at the city complex of Hadrut, where the community leaders, city administration, soldiers and citizens put flowers and wraths,  

Later solemn ceremony dedicated to the anniversary of the establishment of the defense area was held at Liberty square. In his opening speech Hadrut Mayor Armen Abrahamyan congratulated on the anniversary, presented the glorious journey of the military regiment and courage displayed by Hadrut people during the days of Artsakh war.

On August 1992 Azerbaijani army launched a large scale offensive in the direction of Hadrut. Successfully resisting the adversary, local self-defense units defeated the enemy on the battlefield.

Later self-defense units consolidated and formed the first defense area under a joint command. Thus, August 15 is marked as the Revival Day of Hadrut town and the establishment of the first defense area.
