Levon Shirinyan: The conflict should not necessarily be resolved through mutual concessions
Political scientist Levon Shirinyan thinks an intense propaganda war is underway. Shirinyan’s comments came at a meeting with reporters when asked to assess Artsakh President Bako Sahakyan’s recent interview.
“Different words, different interests may come up, however, summing up, we see that people’s interest is the one shared by the two Armenian states – that is not an inch of territory. I favor the idea to fight with last drop of blood against an idea of conceding even an inch of territory,” Shirinyan noted.
To the speaker’s words, the public should maintain its unblended posture.
Political scientist Ruben Mehrabyan, present at the meeting, suggested that in his interview Bako Sahakyan has spoken on nothing except the necessity of reasonable mutual concessions.
To him, conflict settlement requires certain mutual concessions, however he is unaware about those mutual concession Bako Sahakyan implied.
“Conflict settlement requires the elimination of the causes. The cause of the conflict is that no Azerbaijani rule should e established over Karabakh people. That is even an imperative to declare Artsakh as internationally recognized state especially after the April war,” Mehrabyan stressed.
Shirinyan, however, didn’t share his colleague’s opinion, suggesting the conflict should not necessarily be resolved through mutual concessions.
