Haghtanak Shahumyan: No state would take the logo even free of charge
“I am wondering what is the meaning of the presented logo? Has it anything to do with the history and culture of Armenia? It is absolutely improper for our state,” RA People’s Artist Paravon Mirzoyan told reporters at a press conference, speaking of the Armenian national brand, logo and slogan developed by Vasken Kalayjian, the CEO and Brand Architect at GK Tribe Global.
To remind, the development of the national brand was initiated by the government several years ago aimed to properly showcase Armenia and its people on the world stage while a month ago the unveiled product received harsh criticism in Armenia, mostly because of the price of the project, costing USD 400 thousand.
To Mirzoyan’s words, Armenians are one of the ancient nations with century-long culture and history, and it would be unacceptable to be introduced to the world with such a logo.
“This logo is about nothing. I call for taking the issue seriously,” stressed the artist, adding many art people and artists reside in Armenia who could develop a logo for the state.
RA Distinguished Artist Haghtanak Shahumyan, present at the press conference, described the logo as absurdity.
“What is a logo? That is a symbol. Armenians are recognized through Mount Ararat. What is the reason beyond creating a new logo? That is to say we are pushed apart from our national plans, the reality. Do they want to surrender Ararat to Turks on our will?” the artist noted, suggesting the move comes as a step aimed at eliminating the spiritual culture. “No state would take the logo even free of charge. Any logo should have content; it should be perceived and reproduced. One will fail to remember and reproduce this no mater how hard he tries,” Shahumyan maintained.
He next suggested that the National Assembly should initiate a serious discussion over the matter, along with slamming the Public Council, which should have been the structure to raise the concern.
