11 women applied to study at Military Institute after Vazgen Sargsyan
Reforms in the sphere of military education are inextricably linked to the reforms implemented in the defense sphere, Colonel Suren Davtyan from the RA Defense Ministry Personnel and Military Education Department told reporters at a press conference on Thursday in Yerevan.
Colonel Davtyan informed that 118 applicants have applied for military education this year, of which 83 have been recognized eligible. “The number of applicants wishing to get military education subsidized by the Defense Ministry is growing year by year. We are educating specialists not only in two military institutions of the Republic of Armenia but also in military institutions of allied and partner states. Main preferences among Armenian applicants are to the specialization in air defense system, army communications, infantry and artillery,” the Colonel noted.
Davtyan informed that the number of women applying to get education at military institutions has also grown, pointing out to 11 females who have applied to Military University after Vazgen Sargsyan this year.
Colonel Davit Alexanyan, deputy head of the scientific and educational programs at Military Aviation Institute after Armenak Khanperyants, noted on his part that 160 applicant have submitted documents to enter the institute, of which four are women.
Asked what are the dynamics of the number of applicants to military institutions against the backdrop of the four-day war in early April, Colonel Suren Davtyan said indicators of the previous years have largely maintained.
