Student’s offer to RA President
A meeting with medallists of various competitions and awards and graduates of educational institutions of 2015-2016 was held in the Presidential Palace of Armenia. Sona Sahakyan, a graduate of Akner high school of Syunik province, addressed her offer to the RA President, Serzh Sargsyan.
“I have an offer and I would be really glad if you accepted it. I suggest you to pay my tuition fee. If I don’t become a leading specialist in my chosen professional field, I would return you the money. I promise,” Sona Sahakyan said.
The audience gave her a round of applause.
The President noted that a promise is the best guarantee. Then he added that Minister of Education and Science, Levon Mkrtchyan made notes on the offer, and they would consider it.
“I’ll keep my promise,” Sona said.
Sona Sahakyan entered YSU Faculty of Informatics and Applied Mathematics. The annual tuition fee there is AMD 540 thousand.
Other questions were also raised during the meeting. Particularly concerning whether the awarded students would receive any privileges or discounts in the universities.
“Those issues will be observed by the Minister of Education and Science. We’ll see what the matter is and try to solve the problem. The important thing is for you to become good specialists and citizens,” President Serzh Sargsyan said.
One of the pupils wanted to ask his question in secret. “Mr. President may I ask you something? May I say it in your ear?”
Serzh Sargsyan didn’t mind.
