Armenia spent about EUR 335 thousand on 20 ECHR decisions during 3 years
On September 2, during the Government session, Minister - Chief of RA Government Staff, Davit Harutyunyan said that the instructions of the Prime Minister have been fulfilled and they were ready to introduce data on the amount of money Armenia has allocated from the state budget for fulfilling the decisions of the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR).
According to data presented by Mr. Harutyunyan, in 2014, Armenia spent a total of EUR 166 thousand on 4 ECHR decisions, in 2015 – EUR 86 thousand on 8 decisions and in 2016 – EUR 83 thousand, again, on 8 decisions.
“What about the Ministry of Justice, do they speak about the reasons? We’re now discussing the results,” Prime Minister, Hovik Abrahamyan asked Davit Harutyunyan.
“I think the reasons are clear, Mr. Prime Minister. Those are the mistakes in our judicial system. All countries make such mistakes. However, when the opportunities for correcting those mistakes are limited in the judicial system of a country, people apply to the ECHR,” Mr. Harutyunyan replied.
