Artsakh official welcomes Minsk Group Co-chairs meeting in Moscow
Davit Babayan, press secretary to the President of the Nagorno Karabakh Republic welcomes the Moscow meeting of the OSCE Minsk Group Co-chairs held in Moscow today, saying such discussions positively affect the preservation of the piece and the stability. Davit Babayan’s comments came in an interview with Panorama.am.
Earlier, the Russian Foreign Ministry reported that Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov received OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs James Warlick, Igor Popov, and Pierre Andrieu, as well as Personal Representative of the OSCE Chairperson-in-Office, Andrzej Kasprzyk. According to the released statement, they discussed topical issues related to Nagorno Karabakh conflict settlement, including the implementation of the agreements reached during the summits in Vienna on May 16 and in St. Petersburg on June 20.
At a remark that the Azerbaijani side has not undertaken any positive step within the mentioned agreements, Babayan replied: “That is true, the process is quite complex, yet we should proceed with it, no matter how difficult it might be”.
“Since the region of the South Caucasus is of strategic importance to the global geopolitics, with the Karabakhi-Azerbaijani conflict as one of the most important constituents in terms of preserving the peace in the region, great powers and the Minsk group co-chairs, in particular, are encouraged to continue such discussions - irrespective of Azerbaijani behavior,” Babayan stressed, reminding that Minsk Group co-chairs continue excluding any option for the military solution to the conflict.
Press secretary to the President of Artsakh next highlighted efforts by the co-chairmen and the international community aimed at keeping the stability and the peace in the region.
Meanwhile, Babayan underscored that tough measures should be taken against Azerbaijan, since from one hand the necessity for peace and stability is voiced up, from the other hand closed eye on Azerbaijani terrorist policy is kept.
