RA Defense Minister: Unless there’s trust, we cannot speak of mutual agreements
“We only expect the Nagorno Karabakh conflict to be solved only in peaceful political circumstances, through dialogue, within the framework of mutual agreements and most importantly, through the development of trust,” RA Minister of Defense, Seyran Ohanyan told reporters during a briefing commenting on expectations concerning the Moscow negotiations on Karabakh conflict settlement.
Concerning rumors on the return of territories, Ohanyan said that within the framework of the negotiations the decisions must be comprehensive. “In fact it is difficult to find a common ground with the adversary, especially the provocations after the Four-Day War lead to the failure of establishment of trust on the frontline or the Line of Contact by the adversary. It allows us to say, that unless there is an atmosphere of trust, we cannot speak about mutual agreements. If something happens to Artsakh and the Artsakh people, we are going to fight for every inch of land.”
Speaking about the situation on the frontline, the Minister said that there are no signs of tension, and the agreement between the parties on not applying heavy artillery is carried out.
“NKR Defense Army units follow [the situation] and resort to retaliatory operations in case of necessity,” Seyran Ohanyan added.
