Ombudsman’s Office: Information received from Talish residents to be conveyed to International human rights organizations
Armenia’s Human Rights Defender Arman Tatoyan, who is on a working visit to the Nagorno Karabakh Republic, met with Artsakh Ombudsman Ruben Melikyan, who presented the ongoing results of the fact-finding mission of the atrocities committed by Azerbaijani forces in early April.
As the press department of the RA Ombudsman’s Office reports, the two ombudsmen visited Mataghis village, Mataghis reservoir and implemented joint examination of the area. Targeted attacks by Azerbaijani forces against Mataghis village and the reservoir were recorded.
It was stated that the attacks toward the reservoir were planned to cause significance damage to the Artsakh civilian population, depriving them of opportunities to secure their living needs.
“These kind of actions blatantly violate the norms of the International Human Rights Law, including the International Humanitarian Law,” reads the statement.
Armenia’s and Artsakh ombudsmen visited Alashan area of Martakert region and met with Talish residents who had left their houses during Azerbaijani April assault.
During the meeting, additional information was communicated about Azerbaijani atrocities committed against Talish civilian population.
Armenian and Artsakh ombudsmen draw the attention of the international community to Azerbaijani violation of the fundamental rights of the civilian population.
According to the statement, the received data with relevant justifications will be conveyed to International human rights organizations.
