Unique exhibition dedicated to Armenian Independence at AGMI, Demoyan says
On September 20, “From Genocide to Independence” exhibition will open at the Armenian Genocide Museum Institute, director of the AGMI Hayk Demoyan told journalists noting that the exhibition is dedicated to the 25th anniversary of the Independence of the Republic of Armenia.
“The exhibition includes rare historical flags and emblem designs made in 18th – 20th centuries during the Armenian liberation struggle. There are exclusive designs of flags and emblems made by the Armenian orphans after the Genocide. Visitors will be able to see to unique designs of iconography. Most of the exhibits are original,” Demoyan said.
According to him, exhibits from different parts of the world, Los Angeles, Boston, Vienna, Denmark, as well as various museums and institutions will be displayed. “For the first time we’ll have the chance to see unique flags and banners, we had no idea existed. Alongside the flags and banners, carpets, engravings, silver items, stamps, postcards, books, albums and images of Mother Armenia will be displayed.”
The director of AGMI stressed that the exhibition aims to show the expectations of Armenian people before the Genocide and their hopes for having statehood.
Demonyan also informed that the exhibition will be open until November 1.
“On the occasion of the 25th anniversary of Armenia's independence, it is expected to hold another exhibition, which will open in October. I am going to present my collection, depicting the image of Armenians in European engravings of 16th – 19th centuries,” he added.
