Iranian Ambassador expects negotiations over increasing gas supply to Armenia
“Certain difficulties arose with the volumes of the gas supplied to Armenia, and Iran brought its contribution and tried to increase the volumes of the gas,” Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Armenia Seyed Kazem Sadjadi told reporters in the frames of Made in Armenia-2016 exhibition.
As to the increase of the gas volumes, the Ambassador noted the Iran Petroleum Minister is expected to visit Armenia, and respective negotiations between the high-ranking officials of the two states are to be conducted.
To Ambassador’s words, the Iranian government will keep focused on issues related to the benefit and interest of Armenia.
Ambassador Seyed Kazem Sadjadi next suggested that Armenia should increase its role in the markets of the EEU (Eurasian Economic Union) and Iran and as a member state to the EEU try to overcome the obstacles toward the enhanced involvement of Iran in the respective market.
The Iranian diplomat pointed out to Iran’s population of 80 million, numerous opportunities and the big potential the Islamic Republic may provide.
“If these opportunities are utilized, I think the economic field will be activated and Armenia will gain from wider opportunities,” the Ambassador stressed. Referring also to the importance to the North-South Road Corridor.
