Artsakh issue cannot be removed from the road to independence, Ruben Babayan says
During a public discussion on the value of independence, Director of the Puppet Theatre after Hovhannes Tumanyan, Ruben Babayan said that the Artsakh issue cannot be removed from the road to independence.
“When we perceived Karabakh movement as part of the independence, we see a political field where both Armenia and Artsakh could easily fit in. As soon as we started to move the Karabakh issue to another political field, our position weakened, and when your position weakens, you try to find someone to protect you. We have not yet received a clear answer from our government concerning what we want. I have the impression that we’re trying to deceive everyone, when we tell the world that we want one thing, but actually what we want is something else,” he said.
According to Ruben Babayan, when we start comparing the Karabakh issue to the crisis of Crimea, South Ossetia, we really weaken our position. “Our position is within the framework of the political field of independence, freedom and democracy where both Artsakh and Armenia will fit in, where they will really be united.”
