Minister of Education and Science presents his vision on higher education reforms
Armenian Minister of Education and Science, Levon Mkrtchyan considers expanding and strengthening universities through establishment of network system and autonomy with financing and introducing internal democratic mechanisms the most important issues.
He presented his vision on higher education reform to the World Bank delegation. According to public relations department of the ministry, Levon Mkrtchyan expressed hope that the next tranche of financial assistance provided by the World Bank will be allocated to the university system reform.
According to Mkrtchyan, the models of two international universities (American and French) can serve as examples for the launch of global reforms.
“It is important for us to find the most efficient model or the legal form of the administration and financing of the universities. The current version does not regulate all the problems of the universities. The RA Law on Higher Education should clearly define the legal form of the universities, which will solve the problems the university system faces,” Levon Mkrtchyan added.
Co-head of “Armenia – Education Improvement Project”, Nino Kutaladze underscored the smooth implementation of essential components of education. She stressed that, when developing their projects, they attach great importance to the needs of the domain presented by those responsible for the system.
