Joseph Daul denies APA news on EPP delegation arriving in Baku
Head of the European People’s Party (EPP), Joseph Daul denied the rumours circulated by Azerbaijani APA news agency concerning the EPP delegation arriving in Baku on a working visit to meet President of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev.
“I deny the misleading info published by APA: no EPP delegation was on an official visit to Azerbaijan,” Joseph Daul wrote on his Twitter page.
Earlier, on September 26, APA news agency informed that President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev received a delegation of members of the European Parliament, parliamentarians of European countries and employees of several international organizations led by Vice President of the Centrist Democrat International, Vice Chair of the European People's Party, Mario David.
According to the information, Mario David said they had already visited several polling stations, adding that they would continue their monitoring in Baku and regions of the country. APA also wrote that they touched upon the Nagorno Karabakh conflict, and Mario David said they support Azerbaijan’s “international law-based constructive position on the conflict.”
It should be noted that Joseph Daul had made another announcement on his Twitter page saying that Mario David is no longer EPP Vice President.
“EU politicians present in Baku to observe the referendum were acting in their private capacity & Mario David is no longer an EPP Vice Pres,” he wrote.
