DigiTec technological international exhibition opened in Yerevan
The 12th annual international DigiTec Expo 2016 held under the slogan “Fest for technological Armenians” was launched today in Yerevan.
Head of the Union of Information Technology Enterprises (UITE), Karen Vardanyan and Executive Director of UCOM, Hayk Yesayan cut red ribbon at the official opening ceremony, attended by Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan.
Karen Vardanyan told reporters that this yeas the exhibition highlights mostly the education sphere. “We lack serious specialists in the sphere,” Vardanyan explained.
The next important direction is related to suggestions about boosting the defense, which was prioritized after the April war.
The newly appointed minister of Transport, Communication and Information Technologies assured much work had been done in the sphere yet even more is ahead of Armenia. The minister also informed that Armenia is to participate in the Global IT Summit and has something to show to the world.
DigiTec 2016 has combined more than 120 local and international companies. This year India is a partner country of the exhibition and is presented with a consolidated pavilion. At the same time leading companies like Keysight Technologies, VMware, PicsArt, Ucom, Joomag, VOLO, Festo, Rusbase, Monitis, IUNetworks, ArmSoft and Huawei, as well as Armath and Tumo educational centers and others participate at the exhibition.
“Robofest” robot festival will also be held during the three-day Expo, and within the framework of this festival the best representatives of about 160 “Armath” engineering laboratories acting in the provinces of the Republic of Armenia will show their knowledge and achievements in the sectors of programming and robotics. The championship of “Open Game” computer and mobile games will be held too.
It is important to mention the main purpose of DigiTec is to create a favorable environment for communication between high-tech companies, other sectors of the economy and society, to expand the international cooperation and present the achievements and the existing challenges, prospects of the ICT sector each year.
The exhibition will continue until October 2. It is held by the UITE, under the high patronage of the Prime Minister of RA, and the Platinum sponsor is UCOM.
