Karabakh Defense Army dismisses Azerbaijani allegations
The information released today by the Azerbaijani Defense Ministry about an alleged ceasefire violation, resulted in a death of a soldier does not correspond to reality, Defense Army of the Nagorno Karabakh Republic reported in a statement.
“Advanced detachments of the Defense Army never resort to offensive actions and strictly adhere to the ceasefire agreement,” reads the statement.
It next states that over the recent period the Azerbaijani side has substantially increased the ceasefire violations cases in different directions of the Line of Contact, using weapon not only of small calibers, but also grenade launchers and long-range sniper rifles. As a vivid evidence to that, the Defense Army points out to 50 targeted shots from Istiglal and Black Arrow sniper rifles applied earlier by the Azerbaijani forces.
“With this in mind, we recommend the Azerbaijani side instead of warnings, to fulfill its commitment in front of the international community to maintain the ceasefire agreement,” the statements reads, adding the Defense Army will retaliate adequately in any case of a targeted attack toward the Armenian soldiers.
