Vahan Artsrouni: Sevan stayed in her fairy tale world full of shades and mystical characters
Today Naregatsi Art Institute will host an evening of tribute dedicated to painter, animator Sevan Naghashian. The Institute informed panorama.am that the event will be attended by the artist’s friends, a short video will be screened and the guests will share their memories of Sevan Naghashian.
The painting club of Naregatsi Art Institute shall be named after Sevan Naghashian from now on. Notably Beirut Armenian painter and animator Sevan Naghashian passed away at the age of 48 on October 13.
“It is unlikely to know Sevan and not to like her. Almost all the artist of my generation knew her since she was a student. Firstly she stood out as she was “big”, secondly she was an Armenian from Diaspora and thirdly she was a unique patriot. She always found something special in Armenia to fall in love with. I guess she chose her friends on the same basis,” Vahan Artsrouni noted during an interview conducted with him by Panorama.am.
Vahan Artsrouni occasionally met Sevan not only in Armenia but also in abroad, mainly in the US.
“We not only lost an outstanding person, friend and art worker, but also we lost someone who bore all that unique features, an unspeakable patriotism and the warmth characteristic only to an Armenian woman,” Vahan Artsrouni added.
Talking about Sevan’s art, he noted that it is never easy for an artist engaged in fine arts, as they are always in search of forms and colors.
“She was one step closer to her ideal, which she refined through the course of time. She was close to the form and color that would be hers. Alas that road was interrupted. Sevan was left in her fairy tale world full of shades and mystical characters,” Vahan Artsrouni noted.
