Iranian Foreign Ministry announces President Rouhani’s visit to Armenia soon
Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesman Bahram Qassemi announced on Monday about the upcoming visit of President of the Islamic Republic Hassan Rouhani’s to Armenia, Tasnim Agency reported, quoting the Iranian official saying during the press conference held in Tehran.
According to the source, Qassemi reflected on the Iranian-Armenian relations, suggesting: “Iran’s relations with its northern neighbors are good. Apart from Russia, Armenia is the only Christian neighbor of Iran. As to President Rouhani’s upcoming visit to Armenia, it will happen in a time-frame that is as soon as possible”.
Foreign Ministry spokesman referred to the Nagorno Karabakh conflict, saying Iran had been the first state that mediated in the conflict settlement and played an important role in establishing the first ceasefire in Karabakh.
Bahram Qassemi also didn’t’ rule out the NK conflict is currently discussed or will be discussed in the scope of President Rouhani’s visit for that being ‘a matter of mutual interest’. “I do not think Iran is not interested in mediating the conflict. We hope, the conflict will receive a just solution and the rights of all the parties will be restored,” Bahram Qassemi concluded.
