Global Gender Gap report shows Armenia has registered progress
World Economic Forum has published Global Gender Gap Report. According to the figures presented by the report Armenia ranks 102th place among 144 countries. In comparison with the figures presented last year the country has improved its position.
The figures included in the report aim to take steps to improve the gender gap index in four important spheres: healthcare, education, economy and politics.
Gender Gap Index shows how women’s potential is used in the development of different countries. It indicates the correlation between gender equality and the competitiveness of a country.
Thus women form major part in the educational sphere in Armenia, due to which Armenia ranks 27th position. Regarding the economic sphere Armenia ranks 65th. In the healthcare sphere Armenia ranks 143th and in politics 125th places.
The top ten of the list includes Iceland, Finland, Norway, Sweden, Rwanda, Ireland, Philippines, Slovenia, New Zealand and Nicaragua.
