Villagers unable to sell the wood, people now prefer sinthepon, they say
Residents of Shaki village in Syunik region are mainly engaged with cattle breeding. The agricultural works are not that profitable for them, as they do not generate sufficient volumes of harvest to sell.
The Harutyunyans family experiences this in their daily life. 69-year-old Zemfira Harutyunyan’s son is a retired military and he is engaged with breeding sheep.
Mrs. Zemfira suffers from health problems. She says life would be easier if there were a job. Moreover, the villagers’ products would have sold at a reasonable price.
“Our products have no value today. Just imagine, potato is sold at 90 AMD. You should work so hard to make money and sustain a student. So difficult,” the elderly woman explains sadly.
Zemfira next complains that the wool removed from the sheep is not sold.
“Neither the state nor people buy it. They prefer sinthepon to sleep on. Whatever the villager produces is not sold. What is sold is at a very low price with no benefit for us. I can not earn money to send my children to get educated,” Zemfira presented her daily hardships.
