“Paintings by Armenian Architects” exhibition to launch in Sargis Muradyan Gallery
“On 2 November the exhibition entitled “Paintings by Armenian Architects” will launch in Sargis Muradyan Gallery. The paintings of Armenian architects will be presented during the exhibition. The majority of the works are introduced for the first time,” Director of the gallery Zaruhi Muradyan told Panorama.am about this.
The works of the renowned architects Artsvik Grigoryan (1935-2012), Jim Torosyan (1926-2014), Oleg Vardanyan (1946-1997), Mark Grigoryan (1900-1978), Arthur Tarkhanyan (1932-2006), Varuzhan Sahakyan (1925-1985), Harry Rashidian (1933-2016), Karlen Ananyan (1924-2011), Stepan Kyurkchyan (1929-2014), Ohan Berberian (1937-1998) and Sashur Kalashyan (1936) are to be shown. A total of 36 works will be presented.
Zaruhi Muradyan noted that the paintings had been collected due to the cooperation with the architects’ descendants. In her words there were people who refused to take part in the exhibition claiming that they had no appropriate works to be presented.
“My gallery aims at showing professional paintings. Architects were busy people but they had the heart and soul of an artist (I do not refer to the constructors of today’s ugly buildings), and sometimes they expressed their feelings through paintings. The feelings of a sincere person are very important to me, and they were both sincere and professional,” the director noted.
Z. Muradyan aims at organizing an exhibition of the paintings by younger architects as well.
