Armenia participates in Frankfurt Book Fair 2016
68th Frankfurt Book Fair was held in 19-23 October. The Netherlands was the honorary guest of this year's exhibition.
The Armenian Pavilion was exclusively decorated with the elements of national ornaments and was dedicated to the 25th anniversary of the independence of Armenia. The delegation of the RA Ministry of Culture was accompanied by “Antares”, “Zhangak” and “YSU” publishing houses, “First" and "Come" literary agencies and the “Book Institute”. The publications of the recent years were presented, namely the books on the Armenian history, contemporary and classic literary works, as well as the books the publications of which were initiated by the private sector.
As Public Relations Department of the RA Ministry of Culture reports the presentation of Zaven Khachikyan’s book entitled “Black, White, Tricolor" was held in the Armenia Pavilion.
The Russian Pavilion presented works dedicated to 125 anniversary of Osip Mandelstam. During the presentation “Mandelstam's Armenia” pictogram was thoroughly presented.
The Ukrainians had also prepared a surprise for Armenians by presenting the Ukrainian translation of “Shadows of Forgotten Ancestors” drama, and the Polish delegation presented the polish translation of “The Book of Whispers” by Varuzhan Voskanyan. Varuzhan Voskanyan’s novel has been translated into more than 25 languages.
Literary agents, publishers and the delegation of the ministry have had meetings with the foreign agents in connection with conducting talks regarding the acquisition of copyrights as well as presenting the Armenian authors to the foreign publishers.
