Human Rights Defender: No pressure inflicted on the Armenian Ombudsman's Office
“The sum planned to be allocated to the Ombudsman's Staff under 2017 state budget has been reduced in comparison with the amount of money allocated to the institute this year. We have submitted objections to the Ministry of Finance,” Ombudsman Armen Tatoyan told the reporters in the National Assembly.
He claims that there are some inaccuracies which are to be included in the reviewed program following the parliamentary debates. The budgetary allocations need to be increased. A. Tatoyan noted that they intend to open headquarters in Tavush and Lory regions.
In response to a reporter’s question whether there has been any pressure inflicted on the Ombudsman's Office while in office he claimed that there has been no pressure.
“The Ombudsman’s work is very hard. There comes time when the relations with your colleagues become complicated. During the July events some problems arose. But today we have no issue regarding the pressure,” A. Tatoyan noted.
