
Media reports: Turkey blocks access to social media
A nationwide internet blackout in Turkey has blocked access to internet-based applications WhatsApp, Twitter, YouTube and Facebook on Friday, according to Hurriyet Daily news. According to the source, many people have complained that the applications have slowed down.
The ban on these applications has not been confirmed by officials yet.
Meanwhile, the internet was reportedly hindered by the infrastructure of communication provider company Türk Telekom.
Reuters agency writes the move has followed the detentions of 11 pro-Kurdish lawmakers in the mainly Kurdish southeast overnight.
