Levon Hovsepyan: In Turkey political processes have been moved to the level of retribution
The political crackdown on pro-Kurdish politicians will escalate the situation more in Turkey and the terror attacks carried out by Kurdish militants will be repeated in a new scale. Turkologist Levon Hovsepyan told Panorama.am turning to the detention of the MPs of Turkey’s pro-Kurdish Peoples’ Democratic Party.
According to him the Turkish authorities have taken the issue to the level of violence and retribution, and in this case the possibility of retaliation by Kurdish forces becomes evident.
“Now the political processes in Turkey have been moved to the level of retaliation. And Turkey, which is in an actual war with Kurdistan Workers' Party, can end up in a very complex and dangerous situation, when new attacks are carried out in the country as today’s car blast in Diyarbakir. Erdogan believes that many issues can be settled by means of undertaking retaliatory actions, thus the crackdown on pro-Kurdish political forces will continue,” L. Hovsepyan noted.
Notably today early in the morning a powerful car bomb blast hit Diyarbakir as a result of which several people were killed and dozens received injuries. Within the framework of the anti-terror investigation several of PMs of Turkey’s pro-Kurdish Peoples’ Democratic Party were arrested, including two co-presidents of the party.
