Armenian junior wrestlers win most of the medals at International memorial tournament
The 8th Junior Freestyle Wrestling Memorial tournament after Honored coach of USSR, Roudolf Karapetyan and international class sports master of USSR, Yeghishe Karapetyan has come to an end at “Dynamo” sport complex.
As the Wrestling Federation of Armenia reports, about 200 junior wrestlers from Armenia, Artsakh, Iran, Georgia, and Russia competed in10 weight categories. The athletes represented at the tournament were prizewinners at World and European Championships.
Based on the results of the competition head coach of Armenia’s Junior Wrestling team Arshak Hayrapetyan will decide on the final team to get ready for the upcoming competitions in the new season.
The federation reports, that most of the winners at the tournament were representatives of Armenia. Thus, Shmavon Tevanyan (42 kg), Arakel Movsesyan (46 kg), Hunan Manvelyan (50 kg), Davit Grigoryan (54 kg), Armen Petrosyan (58kg), Grigor Nersisyan (63 kg), Davit Gevorgyan (69 kg), Ilya Shevadze (75 kg), Sergey Sargsyan (85 kg) and Martin Simonyan (100 kg) won gold medals.
