Kostanyan: Armenia is obliged to pay 924.000 euros and Azerbaijan 2.5 million euros under ECHR verdicts
ECHR (European Court of Human Rights) has issued 67 verdicts against the Republic of Armenia so far. The money Armenia is obliged to pay under these rulings makes up to 924.000 euros. Gevorg Kostanyan, Republic of Armenia Government Representative before the European Court of Human Rights, has informed about this during Armenia TV program “R-Evolution”. G. Kostanyan has informed that some amount of the above mentioned money has already been paid, the rest is in the process of transfer.
ECHR has issued 99 verdicts against Azerbaijan. Armenian Government Representative before the ECHR has noted that the differences in the amount of money to be paid by the two countries is also tangible drawing attention to the fact that the amount of money claimed by the appeals against the RA that have been approved by the ECHR has been totalled to 15 million euros since 2002, but the sum to be paid makes up 924.000.
“If we compare ourselves with Azerbaijan we see that the latter already has an issue of 2.5 million euros. The amount of money that Armenia is forced to pay, is decreasing annually, as our state and law enforcement bodies apply European standards more which leads to the reduction in violations,” G. Kostanyan stressed.
