Kiro Manoyan: US had a revolution today
Head of the ARFD Bureau's Hay Dat and Political Affairs Office Kiro Manoyan did not expect such an outcome of US presidential electionս with Donald Trump being elected as the 45th US President.
"All the predictions were against his victory, although Trump and his supporters were convonced that they would win," Manoyan said during the interiew conducted by the reporter of panorama.am.
In response to the question whether it can be considered that a revolution took place in the US regarding the fact that the office of the pesident wil be held by a Republican candidate instead of a Democrat, Manoyan replied that the revolution was carried out by Trump and the American people.
"It can be stated that Trump and the majority of the American population initiated this revolution, as this cannot necessarily be considered the victory of the Republican party. Many of the Republican party members did not support Trump running for president, and the fact that whatever happen is a revolution is out of question," Manoyan added.
According to Manoyan Trump's victory shows people's dissatisfaction with the ruling system of the United States.
"This dissatisfaction was not only directed to Clinton, Obama and the Democratic party. It was against the whole ruling system, including those Republican leaders who had ignored this sector of the population," Kiro Manoyan noted.
In response to the question whether Trump is able to settle all the issues that became the basis of this dissatisfaction, he noted that that is the main problem. "Let's see how he is going to settle them. I don't think that all the people who voted in favor of him shared all his views, but it can be even stated that some of them hated Clinton."
As for the Armenian community of the US, Kiro Manoyan noted that they are not interested in both of them.
"But the majority of the Armenians did not support Clinton and wanted to see Trump as the next US president, and it was not based only on the Armenain Genocide issue," he noted.
The impact of the outcome of the elections on the US-Armenia relations could depend on the US relations with Russia, Iran, Turkey and other countries.
"If the relations between Russia and the US improve, it can have a positive effect on Armenia," Manoyan added.
