Memorial tournament in tribute to Robert Abajyan held in Artsakh
Arm Fighting Selection-22 general combat tournament has been held in the gym of School No. 6 of Stepanakert, NKR. The tournament was organized in tribute to Artsakh hero Robert Anajyan.
As Artsakhpress news agency reports, athletes from Yerevan, Gavar, Ejmiatsin and Spitak have taken part in the competition.
The memorial tournament has been attended by Adviser to the Minister of Sport and Youth Affairs, Head of ArmFighting General Combat Federation Hayk Ghukasyan. He has noted that similar events are held in different towns and villages of Armenia and Stepanakert could not be an exception.
"We decided to organize the tournament in Stepanakert this time in order to encourage the younger generation to engage in this sport which takes the athletes closer to the army and to self defence and they can feel themselves stronger when fulfilling their combat duties in posts and trenches. This competition also aims at revealing the best athletes of Artsakh who can win gold and silver medal during European and world championships," Ghukasyan noted.
The winners of the tournament have been awarded with medals, cups and certificates. Notably 10 out of 13 athletes presenting Artsakh have won.
