M. Minasyan: It is necessary to carry out accreditation process of architects
"Additional taxes should be imposed on those owners who do not complete the construction of their buildings for a long time," President of Armenian Union of Architects Mkrtich Minasyan noted during today's meeting with the reporters.
In his words, there is a practice worldwide suggesting to bring to responsibility those owners who take a responsibility to carry out this or that activity regarding a privatized building, but fail to do so.
Notably in Yerevan and other towns there are numerous unfinished buildings the construction works of which are not completed for several years.
Presenting the package of proposals aimed at making reforms in the construction and architecture sectors, M. Minasyan noted that it is necessary to implement an accreditation process of architects which will enable to gain a general insight regarding the quality of the works of the architects working in the sphere. "We are not aware of the number of our architects and their ratings. When a foreign investor wants to know who he should assign this or that job, he does not have any lead. To tackle that issue the architects should undergo accreditation process."
President of Armenian Union of Architects added that the law forbidding the distortion process of the center of Yerevan should be adopted urgently. "The draft law is available and is currently being discussed by the government but it is necessary to accelerate the adoption process which will prevent the owners to demolish the buildings."
