13 more Syrian-Armenian families moved to Armenia
13 Syrian-Armenian Families have moved to Armenia in the frames of Syrian-Armenian Relief initiative announced by IDeA Foundation.
To remind, on October 15 the Foundation announced its Syrian-Armenian Relief project contributing the first $250,000 to facilitate the transfer of the Syrian-Armenian families who wished to leave the worn-torn country and move to their motherland.
The resources were allocated through the strategic partner AGBU that has been involved in relief efforts from early days of the conflict and other non-governmental organizations who currently implement Syrian Armenian support projects in Armenia - RepatArmenia, Mission Armenia, Aleppo NGO, and the funds will be aimed at planning and implementing the following:
- aid to those who continue to remain in Syria (AGBU)
- aid to those who seek temporary refuge outside Syrian borders (Mission Armenia)
- aid to those who have decided to relocate to Armenia (Aleppo NGO)
- aid to those who want to work and live in Armenia (RepatArmenia)
Ani Balkhyan, Founding Director at Aleppo NGO which deals with relocation issues of the arriving Syrian-Armenians, has announced that the number of applications for relocation are increased day by day, and most of them are approved due to the resources provided by the IDeA Foundation.
The Syrian-Armenians arriving in Armenia within the projects are provided with on-site assistance. In particular, Mission Armenia organization takes cares for the fees of the rented apartments.
In the coming future, representatives of RepatArmenia and Mission Armenia will facilitate a meeting with the arrived Syrian-Armenians to assess their needs as well as outline the next steps.
IDeA Foundation has provided resources to its strategic partner AGBU aimed at additional allowances for the Armenians living in Syrian for the three winter months. Thanks to the initiative, the number of families who receive allowance in Aleppo will increase by 390.
According to the source, the initiative has been joined by several organizations and individuals with a total donation amounting to 10 mln. AMD thus far.
