Raffi Movsisyan: Anahit Film Awards ceremony to have rich program
Armenian National Film Academy has initiated “Anahit” Film Awards ceremony for the first time. The deadline for submissions is November 26, Secretary General at the Film Academy Raffi Movsisyan told Panorama.am, adding the Awards ceremony will have a rich program.
Movsisyan informed that the films will be competing in 11 main competition sections: Feature, Documentary, Short film, Animation, Director, Operator, Scriptwriter Actor, Actress, Composer, Designer. Submissions are accepted from the 35 members of the Film Academy - three for each nomination. The members of the Academy will watch the films until December 10-15, while the awards –giving ceremony is scheduled on December 28.
The Armenian films produced by state or private studios as well as joint productions with at least 20 percent of Armenian financing and with a staff of mostly Armenian citizens created from November 2016 to October 2016 can participate in the competition.
In Movsisyan’s words, “Anahit” Film Awards ceremony is aimed at developing the assessment criteria for Armenian modern films as well as reveal new names.
Asked what is the difference between “Hayak” Awards ceremony and “Anahit”, Movsisyan pointed out to the organizer.
While “Hayak” is organized by National Cinema Center of Armenia, “Anahit” is organized by Armenian National Film Academy. “Hayak” Film Awards ceremony is chaired by the Jury that invites film critics, while the winners in “Anahit” Awards are selected by 35 members of the Film Academy. He next indicated to the fact that Film Academy is neither a state, nor a private organization, but NGO.
To note, Armenian National Film Academy was established in 2011. The academy unites specialist with distinguished input in Armenian cinematography and film production The main aim of the Academy is to disseminate knowledge about Armenian films, its heritage, traditions as well as value the current day achievements.
