A repatriate pensioner helps the army
Mrs. Siran, 80, repatriated from Marseille 16 years ago and settled in Jrashen village of Armavir region. She has 6 children, 15 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. In 1966 Mrs. Siran’s family moved from Beirut to France. In Armenia her family is engaged with gardening.
Armenian Minister of Diaspora Hranush Hakobyan received today the elderly woman and highlighted the continuous support and assistance Siran Misakyan-Basmajyan has provided the army
“We have been sending parcels of clothes to the military units for months and recently you bought goods worth half a million AMD to send to the army, yet you prefer to not voice your charity,” Minister Hakobyan has said at a meeting, as quoted by the press department of the Ministry of Diaspora.
According to the source, Mrs. Siran has been awarded with honorable diploma for her active participation of the Pan-Armenian movement “What have you done for Karabakh”, as well as the regular parcels with goods sent to the soldiers defending the border.
“Armenia is our motherland and we are obliged to do our best to develop our country. However, first of all we should strengthen our army. I think the army should be even stronger than us, and we should do everything to help the Armenian soldier,” Siran Misakyan-Basmajyan has told the minister.
