Hripsime Kurshudyan stripped of 2012 Olympics bronze
International Olympic Committee (IOC) announced today the list of athletes that have been disqualified from the Olympic Games London 2012 suspected in having used prohibited substances.
The list includes the name of Hripsime Kurshudyan of Armenia, who competed in the women’s 75kg weightlifting event in which she ranked 3nd and for which she was awarded a bronze medal.
As the decision released by IOC reads, the Armenian athlete is found to have committed an anti-doping rule violation. The IOC has ruled the medal, the medalist pin and the diploma obtained in the women’s 75kg weightlifting event withdrawn, and Olympic Committee of Armenia is ordered to return the same.
To add, the final decision about the case is to be issued by the International Weightlifting Federation.
To remind, earlier Tigran Martirosyan of Armenia, competing in the Men’s 69kg weightlifting event, was disqualified from the Olympic Games Beijing 2008 and stripped of his silver medal.
