Levon Aronian: Children always have new and different ideas
In Tigran Petrosian Chess House Armenian Grand Master Levon Aronian held a session of simultaneous chess games with pupils with disabilities from inclusive educational schools within the framework of “Sport for Equal Opportunities” event.
Over 25 children with disabilities were looking forward to playing with the Armenian Grand Master. The powers were naturally unequal, but the children were excited to compete with the greatest Armenian chess player.
Prior to the game, during the meeting with the reporters, Aronian underscored that it is a pleasure for him to play with children as they always have new and different ideas.
“It is interesting to play with children and see the spark in their eyes. It is important for them to play with someone stronger. I myself did my best to play a good game when competing with strong chess players,” Aronian noted.
He stated that everything should be done to help people with disabilities, as not all of them has been so lucky to have good health.
“Every year I try to provide assistance to children, especially to the ones with disabilities. We all should take care of them and try to help,” the Armenian GM noted.
At the end of the session the children received their pics with Levon Aronian with his autograph.
Notably “Sport for Equal Opportunities” event has been held for 5 years already. The event is organized by Bridge of Health NGO.
