Cross stone in memory of the soldier fallen during April war unveiled in Armavir
A cross stone (Khachkar) dedicated to the memory of Gor Kirakosyan fallen during the April war was unveiled in the yard of Saint Grigor Narekatsi Church in Armavir region of Armenia.
As the r Governor’s Office reported, Bishop Sion Adamyan, Primate of Armavir Diocese performed the ceremony of consecration of the cross stone.
To remind, six soldiers from Armavir region bravely laid down their lives during the April war, Gor Karapetyan, 1996, from Arevik village, among them. Serviceman Karapetyan fell by Azerbaijani fire on April 5 and was posthumously awarded with the "For Service in Battle" medal for bravery shown during the defense war.
The residents of the village have highlighted the courage of their fellow resident as well naming one the village school classrooms after his name.
Governor of Armavir region Ashot Ghahramanyan, present at the ceremony, made a speech: “We bow to the memory of Gor Kirakosyan and all other heroes. It is through their heroism that proved the Armenians’ spirit is unbreakable and steady. As long as we are in a state of semi-war, we are obliged to keep our borders secure and regretfully sometimes at the expense of the lives of our hero soldiers with their bright memories to be with us forever.”
