Defense Minister to pay his first foreign visit to Russia
Armenian Minister of Defense Vigen Sargsyan will pay his first foreign visit to Russia, where the minister is set to participate in number of bilateral and multilateral meetings and community events. Minister Sargsyan told about this in an interview with Russian Izvestia newspaper, part of which was published on Saturday.
Speaking of the upcoming visit to Russia, the minister has noted that “the two countries are tied not only by long-term allied relations, but also centuries-long friendship of the two peoples”.
In the scope of the visit scheduled on November 27-30, the minister will attend the Russian Southern Military District in Rostov on Don with a follow-up travel to Moscow for talks with Russian Defense Minister Sergey Shoygu. The ministers are slated to sign the agreement on joint armed forces between Armenia, Russia as well as the cooperation plan for 2017 between the two ministries.
“I also plan to meet with friends of Armenia who have invested and continue doing so in the development of the Armenian-Russian allied relations, meet with parliamentarians and diplomats dealing with Armenian-Russian issues, Armenian cadets studying at Russian military institutional as well as the representatives of the Diaspora,” Minister Sargsyan said.
