President calls for new approaches in Diaspora-Armenia relations
Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan highlighted the deepening and the strengthening of the Armenia-Diaspora relations, pointing out to the need of elaborating new approaches. The president stated about this during his program speech delivered on Saturday at the 16th convention of the Republican Party in Yerevan.
“The existing challenges necessitate elaboration of new approaches in the Diaspora-Armenia relations. Today, almost all are certain about the goal – that is the long-term social economic development and the consolidation of all Armenians around the progressing Armenia. This requires new approaches to a joint work, a more active predisposition. We continue revealing the potential of our sisters and brothers in Diaspora, trying to direct that toward the sustainable development of Armenia,” President Sargsyan stated.
Sargsyan recalled the formed and fulfilled preconditions for the Diaspora-Armenia cooperation over the past years, indicating the necessity to a make an important amendment - ‘to combine responsibility with unity’.
“The time for launching a joint development policy has come. To be honest, that has not been tangible thus far. We are shifting the arrows, suggest a joint work within newly defined formats. We will set the goals, assume the role of fulfilling them together and will state jointly in the end what has been accomplished,” the president noted.
At the convention, attended by the Armenia’s ruling elite, Serzh Sargsyan called for excluding “acute corners of misunderstanding”, expressed a desire for each Armenian to take one’s own part in assuming responsibility and acting.
President next expressed the Government readiness to become the driving force for the Armenia-Diaspora collaboration, promote the ties between the motherland and the Diaspora to strengthen the mutual responsibility and the productive cooperation.
