The first exhibition-sale entitled “Kind Bag” will take place in Bureaucrat Cafe & Bookstore tomorrow to feature the eco bags illustrated by children of Nor Kharberd Specialized Orphanage. As Satenik Khachatryan, PR Coordinator of the initiative, told Panorama.am, the initiative came in 2016 at the joint initiative of Fund for Armenian Relief and Nor Kharberd Specialized Orphanage.

“The cooperation aims at engaging children with restricted abilities as well as give opportunity for their self-expression. We decided to organize the event ahead of the International Day of People with Disability, raising the issue of their full integration into the society,” Khachatryan explained, adding the beneficiary children will present their works themselves.

In her words, 25 children of the orphanage have illustrated 80 bags to be exhibited at the event.

“Children take drawing, hand knitting and pottery classes in the orphanage,” she added.

“The entire donation received from the exhibition will be transferred to the orphanage,” Khachatryan said, expressing hope for continuation of similar projects.

To note, Nor Kharberd specialized orphanage is residential institution for mentally or physically disabled children under 18. Around 240 children currently live in the orphanage.
