Cabinet of fine arts in memory of Sevan Naghashyan to be opened in Vazashen border village
Memorial evening devoted to artist, animator Sevan Naghashyan’s birthday anniversary was held on The Club café in Yerevan on Sunday. AMD 210 thousand collected from the concert will be donated to bring one of Sevan’s much desired and unfulfilled projects to life – furnishing the cabinet of fine arts in the school of Vazashen border village in Tavush region. The room will be named after Sevan Naghashyan.
Armine Petrosyan, Director at “Hay Dzmer Pap” (Armenian Santa Claus) foundation informed in an interview with Panorama.am that Sevan with a group of artists initiated an exhibition entitled “Art on the border” in Vazashen village.
“No many paintings were sold at the exhibition sale then. We planned another exhibition this year to reach our goal. After the early death of Sevan the project remained unfinished. Her friends suggested organizing a concert marking her birthday anniversary with the received donations to be directed to the completion of the project in Vazashen village – the so-called “Havesov Room”, as Sevan used to call it.
“It will serve as cabinet of fine arts and culture center. The sum will be used for furnishing it. Animator Naira Muradyan and other friends of Sevan have committed to hold online courses in fine art, animation, as well as visit Vazashen children to conduct master classes,” Armine Petrosyan informed, adding Seda Melkonyan, widow of national hero Monte Melkonyan, was among the donators, contributing USD 100 to the initiative.
Additionally, the idea of creating the cabinet of fine arts was submitted to Awesome Foundation, receiving a grant amounting USD 1, 000 to obtain stationery, and other accessories.
To note, Sevan Naghashyan passed away on 13 October.
