Expert: Armenia much valued by Iran
The forthcoming visit of the Iranian president to Armenia should be taken in the context of development of the Armenia-Iranian relations, expert in Iran Vardan Voskanyan told a press conference on Tuesday.
“The Armenian-Iranian relations have visibly grown but not to an extent the both parties wished, yet we should not overlook the changes and achievements made thus far,” Voskanyan said, suggesting Iran values Armenia much and views the country linking the Persian Gulf to the Black See.
In his words, the economic sphere of the two states needs further development and encouragement: “The construction of the North-South Road is of high importance for the development of bilateral relations, enabling Iran with another opportunity to connect with the Black See and subsequently reach out to the European markets. Thus, Iran will withdraw the dependency on Turkish infrastructure,” the expert explained, singling out the gas cooperation the abolishment of the visa regime between the states as other steps aimed at economic development.
“We have accomplishments in the education and science spheres. The Islamic Republic of Iran acknowledges diplomas of Armenia’s higher education institutions. With this regard let us note that the Iranians have a large education market, while the Armenian higher educational institutions have demand in students. As to the culture, much is to be done, since the cultural cooperation has not yet reached a sufficient level,” concluded Voskanyan.
