Dutch Public Broadcaster aired travel documentaries about Armenia
The crew of “3 op Reis” travel program of Dutch Public Broadcast BNN visited Armenia and filmed two documentaries about the tourist attractions of the country with the support of Development Foundation of Armenia (DFA) and the Embassy of RA to the Netherlands.
According to press statement by DFA, the first du=documentary features number of sightseeing in capital Yerevan - Vernisazh, Cascade, the Republic Square, the Chess House, Tsitsernakaberd Memorial Complex among them. The popularity of chess in Armenia is in the focus of the Dutch reporters as well.
Olympic champion Tigran Petrosyan meets the reporters to explain why Armenians are “so good at chess”, saying playing chess is pleasure in Armenia, where one can see many older men playing the game in the yards and teaching the younger generation. Asked why chess is studied at schools, Petrosyan says: “We believe that children who study chess from an early age develop critical thinking and become more creative in trying to solve whatever challenges”.
In the second film the Dutch reports visit Armenian regions. First, they visit Lake Sevan, then Noratus cross - stones, attempt to hitchhike to Noravank. They were event sheltered by an Armenian family, learn some Armenian words, follow the vodka distillation process. Presenting the main tourist attractions of the country, the crew enjoy the Armenia landscape from “Tatev Wings” rope way - the longest reversible aerial tramway. The film ends by a description of Tatev Monastery as a symbol of harmony of the history and the landscape.
