EBRD values cooperation enhancement with Armenia
Armenian Prime Minister Karen Karapetyan has received on Thursday the delegation headed by the Managing Director for Eastern Europe and the Caucasus of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) Francis Malige.
According to the press release, issued by the government, Prime Minister Karapetyan highlighted Armenia’s cooperation with EBRD pointing out to the 153 projects with the cumulative investment amounting to 1 milliard Euro both in the state and the public sectors.
Karen Karapetyan singled out the projects with 83% private sector share of portfolio (305 mln. EURO current portfolio of projects).
The release reads that Francis Malige has valued the cooperation enhancement with Armenian and the continuous growth of the investments. Francis Malige has welcomed the initiative for establishing Center for Strategic Initiatives, efforts aimed at improving business environment and competitiveness, expressing readiness to actively cooperate with the Center on joint projects as well as contribute to the creation of favorable field for competitiveness.
the Managing Director reflected on the priorities of the bilateral partnership, affirmed readiness to develop cooperation in the following strategic orientations, as envisaged by the new Strategy for Armenia: enhancing private sector competitiveness, developing capital markets and promoting local currency financing, and developing sustainable and commercialized public utilities.
The parties discussed the ongoing bilateral cooperation and the development prospects.
