Foreign investment in Armenia cut down by 72 percent
The foreign investments made in Armenia during the nine months of 2016 have cut down by 72 percent in comparison with the investments made during the same period of 2015. From January to September of the current year the net inflow of foreign investment has totalled to 26.9 billion AMD (55 million USD) to compare with 96.6 billion AMD (200 million USD) made in the same period of the last year.
According to the figures published by the National Statistical Service, in the mentioned period foreign direct investment in Armenia has made up to 44.4 billion AMD, which has reduced by 35.7 billion AMD (44 percent).
To note, the net inflow of foreign investment has been cut down from Russia. In comparison with the last year when the net inflows of investment made up 14.2 billion AMD, this year more investments have been made in Russia from Armenia than vice versa. According to the data of NSS, during the nine months of this year the net flow of investment in Russia has totalled to 72.7 billion AMD (150 million USD). It can be concluded that funds outflow from Armenia to Russia, but the volumes of the reverse flow of investment have reduced relatively.
